Within Dementia Care Aware, the Medical-Legal Partnership Network (MLP Network) has partnered with legal aid organizations and health care systems across California. The MLP Network has developed trainings for primary care teams on common legal issues that affect people with cognitive impairment.
What Can the MLP Network Offer Me?
The DCA MLP Network is available to provide free trainings (in-person and/or virtually) to primary care clinicians and teams on the following medical-legal topics: Advance Care Planning, Capacity, Consumer Debt, Disability Forms, Elder Abuse & Neglect, Housing, Income Supports, Medi-Cal, In-Home Supportive Services, & Long-Term Care, Paid Family Leave, Planning Needs & Considerations for Immigrants, and Preventing the Need for Conservatorship.

LawHelpCA is the statewide resource for easy access to self-help information on legal problems and referrals to local legal aid providers and pro bono attorneys who offer free or low-cost legal advice and representation.
California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform (CANHR) is a statewide nonprofit 501(c)(3) advocacy organization. CANHR has been dedicated to improving the choices, care and quality of life for California’s long term care consumers. Through direct advocacy, community education, legislation and litigation it has been CANHR’s goal to educate and support long term care consumers and advocates regarding the rights and remedies under the law, and to create a united voice for long term care reform and humane alternatives to institutionalization.
The CA State Bar’s Certified Lawyer Referral Services (LRS) are designed to help people find legal assistance. If a lawyer is needed, where available, they can refer to an attorney who handles that type of legal issue. The lawyers referred to will offer an initial consultation for a reduced fee or no fee.
